Outline of research and goals

Development of green chemical processes using cutting-edge systems engineering

We research methodology for analysis and synthesis of process systems based on multi-scale perspectives (molecular reactions, transport phenomena, production systems) to develop green chemical processes.

Recent research themes

Design and evaluation of process systems for synthesis of ammonia for closing nitrogen cycle

Based on the concept of “Clean earth & Cool earth", it is required to promote development of new process technologies related to closing nitrogen cycle. Regarding the NTA process, which converts nitric oxide emitted from combustors into ammonia, we study on methods for design of innovative process systems that do not emit harmful nitrogen compounds while reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Intensification of reaction process using alternative energy sources

We develop process intensification technologies using alternative energy sources and forms such as electricity, ultrasound and plasma. Also methods for multi-scale analysis of process dynamics intensified by control of fluid flow and external energy is investigated.

Design and control of reaction processes for efficient utilization of renewable energy

In order to promote the introduction of fluctuating renewable energy, stable efficiency in the production of hydrogen carriers (methylcyclohexane (MCH), ammonia, formic acid, etc.) is required. We study on methods for process information processing to predict and control the hydrogen carrier production system by using a hybrid model that consists rigorous process model and data model.
